The board indicated in a circular addressed to affiliated schools that there will be only one term or one board examination this academic year (as was the norm earlier). The final examinations will cover the whole syllabus (as per the CBSE Curriculum 2022-23).

However, the exam format has been revised. The question papers for the CBSE 10th Board Exams 2023 will have 40% MCQs (multiple choice questions), 20% of the questions would be competency-based, while the remaining 40% would be subjective or short/long answer type questions. For Class 12, the breakup would be 30% competency-based questions, 20% objective or MCQ questions, and 50% long/short type answers. The table below summarises the same.

Class 10 Class 12
Objective Type Questions 40% 20%
Competency Based Questions 20% 30%
Short/Long Answer Type Questions 40% 50%

According to the updated curriculum, the board will soon release Sample Papers. The sample papers will follow the new exam pattern. The curriculum, which was not divided into terms, was already provided by the Board. The official notification for one annual exam is currently available on the board’s website.
